This is the background story of my Shadowrun character Ran. She is an elf mage who has been running in the shadows for a few years and finally found a team she trusts enough to talk about personal experiences. Shadowrun is a pen & paper roleplaying game with a rich background world. It takes place in a dark cyberpunk future dominated by corporations. Furthermore magic has returned and with it magical races like elves, dwarves, orcs and trolls. There are also novels and computer games about Shadowrun.

Near Earth takes place a dystopian future in which corporations supersede governments and battle each other for control of nearly everything from consumer goods to biotechnology. Near Earth: Like the world you know but set 100 years in the future and inhabited by humans, elves and other fantasy races. Near Earth: Since the destruction of New York during a meteor shower, the need to defend Earth from Near Earth Objects (asteroids) has driven technology into the space age.

It’s the year 2076. Magic is real, technology rules over daily life, and massive corporations plot for control and profit. Follow three teams of mercenaries as they take on jobs that offer an insight into the criminal landscape of the Seattle Metroplex, and set the stage for the main story to come!
