Vaughn has always lived in Spendule, an isolated rural society deep within the Patricot mountains. Every year their society holds an annual selection during the Winter Solstice. When all adults go to sleep that night their souls are sent to the spirit realm. While in the spirit realm the citizens have an opportunity to be chosen by the Gods to perform a task for them in the real world. By doing so, they will be able to make their own mark in history.
